Implemented in Maneed Grama Panchayat and Udaya Colony
in Ernakulam district, it addresses substance abuse and fosters community well-being. The
project integrates sensitization programs, waste management campaigns, yoga training,
football coaching, and targeted outreach initiatives to address drug abuse. It promotes mental
health, environmental sustainability, and social development by engaging children, youth,
and marginalized groups. Interactive sessions, baseline surveys, and community-driven
campaigns in Maneed and Udaya Colony have fostered behavioral changes among
beneficiaries. Collaborative efforts with stakeholders, volunteers, and residents ensure
sustainable impact.
By combining anti-drug measures with holistic development, Project Vimukthi exemplifies a
model for building resilient and healthier communities. It stands as a testament to the power
of collective action in addressing social challenges.
The project’s success has served as a model for replication in other communities facing
similar challenges of drug abuse, unemployment, and social unrest. The holistic approach
involving drug awareness campaigns, youth sports programs, yoga sessions, and Counselling
has been successfully adapted to other places facing the same problems. Future plans focus
on expanding the project to additional communities, strengthening local leadership, ensuring
sustainability through partnerships, and integrating mental health and rehabilitation services.
