Building Resilience And Well-being In Adolescents Through Life Skill Education

The DHRUVA initiative is a transformative program designed to foster resilience and well-being among adolescents in the tribal communities of Noolpuzha and Thirunelly in Wayanad District. The module focuses on life skills, including communication, leadership, decision-making, problem-solving, self-awareness, and teamwork, empowering participants to overcome challenges and seize opportunities for personal and community growth.

The program adopts an innovative Weekend Residential Model, integrating life skills education with football training. Adolescents aged 10 to 15, including both boys and girls, participate in immersive activities over weekends, which combine football skill-building sessions with life skills workshops. This cyclic and adaptive approach ensures continuous growth through regular feedback, fostering a strong sense of ownership and belonging within the local community.

By targeted key areas of mental health and personal development, the DHRUVA initiative aims to equip adolescents with the essential tools needed to navigate their unique challenges. Based on the assessment, the initiative focuses on changes in the beneficiaries interpersonal relationships, communication skills, decision-making, problem-solving abilities, teamwork and collaboration, adaptability and flexibility. Ultimately, the initiative strives to create empowered, confident individuals who can contribute positively to their communities and envision a brighter future.

About the Project

As part of this project, we have developed a strong positive relationship with the surrounding areas of Peroorkada Factory. The main benefits of My City project are:-

  • Successfully running the waste management system at 1400 households at Kowdiar ward for the past five years.
  • Project is implemented in the surrounding areas of HLL Peroorkada Factory.
  • The main beneficiaries of this project will come to more than 5,000 residents in the surrounding areas of HLL – Peroorkada Factory.
  • Intangibly benefitting the HLL – Peroorkada Factory in the smooth running of the operations and functions.
