Thinkal Cup

Thinkal Cup is a type of female hygiene product which is made of medical grade silicone, shaped like a bell and is flexible. It is worn inside the vagina during menstruation to catch menstrual blood. It can be used every 4–12 hours depending on the amount of flow and can be reused up to a minimum of five years.

Why Menstrual cups?

  • Affordable

    If you’re using reusable menstrual cups then you have to spend very less on these, unlike pads and tampons.

  • Safer

    The menstrual cup absorbs more blood than tampons and pad. These can also last long for more time

  • More storage

    These are having more capable of absorbing blood more than pads and tampons. There is a very less chance of getting any kind of vaginal infection.

  • Eco-friendly

    Women can also reduce plastic waste by using a menstrual cup. One cup produces an estimated 0.4% of plastic waste that single-use pads build up

History of Thinkal M-cups

The name “THINKAL” which symbolises moon and the menstrual cycle of women.


A Project by HMA with the CSR support of Coal India Limited and Municipality of Alappuzha to create awareness and to distribute 5,000 menstrual cups to women in Alappuzha Municipality. The objective of project was to create awareness, provide and encourage the use of Menstrual Cups by women for menstrual hygiene management in an economical and eco-friendly manner. The supply of 5000 menstrual cups to women in Alappuzha municipality at free-of-cost completed within 5 months. It has received wide response globally and consistent response over the social media in the beginning itself. After 45 days of its launch, the project has gained wide acceptance from the beneficiaries, via the support of local government and medical professionals and attention from the local and national media. Second part of the project executed in Kochi Municipal Corporation.“Thinkal M-Cups” have gained wider acceptance from the beneficiaries of coastal areas and also the project in Kochi got a huge impact. Our ongoing tele calling support system and awareness classes made beneficiaries to promote the use of M-Cup.
